O Mundo Árabe com olhos portugueses
Jamia, in the Arabic context, refers to the idea of dialog, meeting and sharing knowledge. It also refers to the notion of learning, discussion and debate of ideas. Recognizing that this space has not yet been fully explored in its different dimensions in the Portuguese communication space, Jamia was born to contribute to this effort to better understand the Arab World.
Our aim with this portal is to report, frame, reflect on and give visibility to the diversity of issues that originate in the Arab World, in order to better understand the different dynamics that the Middle East embodies.First and foremost, the tremendous geopolitical and security challenges that are currently on the agenda, but we also try to go further, exploring the cultural, economic and thought aspects that ultimately provide a deeper and more complete reading of the vastness and complexity of the issues that this region encompasses.
We will always be a Portuguese viewpoint, with no other pretensions than our curiosity and desire for a better understanding of this reality. To that end, we would like to make our contribution, albeit modest, to exploring the most recent events, analyzing their implications and unraveling the complex geopolitical web of the region and its global impact, bringing a vision that is intended to be more informed and hopefully more relevant to the Portuguese public.
It will also be a space that we want to open up to regional protagonists, giving a direct voice to Arab communities, the diplomatic world, academia, cultural and economic actors, and anyone else who wants to contribute to this Jamia.
